Happy New Year from Irmo Little League!

Baseball and Softball registration is open through the month of January for players as young as 3 and as old as 14.

You can register online through the Irmo Little League website (www.IrmoLittleLeague.org), or come in person to any of the following onsite registrations:

  • Friarsgate Park
    • Tuesday, January 10, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
    • Wednesday, January 11, 6:00 pm - 8:00pm
  • Dick's Sporting Goods
    • Friday, January 27, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
    • Saturday, January 28, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Prior to registering, please take a few minutes to review our age, division, and other registration details through the league website (under the 'Play Ball' section) for a background of the age groups and divisions. If you have any questions, please e-mail [email protected] or bring questions with you to one of our onsite registrations.

Common Highlights and a few new things for Spring 2017:

  • Opening Day, March 18. Opening day is highlighted by our Parade of Teams in the morning followed by games and other festivities throughout the day.
  • Evaluations are required (exceptions may apply for returning Majors players only) so players can be drafted in the most suitable groupings. Evaluations are scheduled to occur the weekend of February 4-5 at Friarsgate Park. As the number of participants in various age groups are determined through registration, we will set more detailed time windows. Please refer back to the website for updates concerning evaluations.
  • A $10 per player discount is applied for families with 2 or more players, with a family maximum payment of $250.
  • Tee Ball. We are separating out a T-ball Division this season for the youngest and most inexperienced players. Players as young as 3 (must turn 4 by August 31) have a chance to play separately from our slightly older Junior Coach Pitch Division.
  • Intermediate Division, ages 11-13. The league has not fielded this division the last several years but feels there is enough interest to have it this season. The Intermediate Division will be played with a pitching distanceĀ of 50 foot, bases at 70 foot, and provides open stealing and leading off. Big Barrel (2-5/8 diameter) bats are permitted. See Bat Information for more information concerning bats permissible for use in Little League.

Depending upon a combination of participation levels and timelines of players participating in high school spring sports, we may run with a delayed schedule for Intermediate Baseball, but will try to accommodate a season beginning with opening day.

When registering for Intermediate Baseball, please indicate under 'Special Requests/Comments' if there are certain restrictions due to high school sports that may affect when the player would be available for participation.

    * Note: players wishing to be eligible for Little League (10/11/12 age group) age group tournament (all-stars) play must qualify by playing in the Majors Division. See notes below concerning possible dual participation. League age 11 players wishing to qualify for the 9/10/11 tournament team must qualify by playing in the Majors or Minors (Player Pitch) Divisions; it is recommended to register for the Majors Division. Also be aware that qualifying to play on tournament team does not guarantee selection to a tournament team.
  • Juniors Division, ages 13-14. This Division typically occurs at the end of high school season in May.

Depending upon a combination of participation levels and timelines of players participating in high school spring sports, we may continue to run with a delayed schedule for Juniors Baseball, but will try to accommodate a season beginning with opening day.

When registering for Juniors Baseball, please indicate under 'Special Requests/Comments' if there are certain restrictions due to high school sports that may affect when the player would be available for participation.
  • Umpires and Junior Umpire Program. As you register players, please indicate in the volunteer section if you and/or a teenage family member may be interested in umpiring this season. Scheduling can be accommodated from 1 game/week to more often as desired. Umpiring can be applied to community service for school as well as being a great opportunity for both adults and youth to inspire our players to stay involved in the sports of Baseball and Softball as they grow up.
  • Dual participation. Majors and up Baseball and Softball players may have the opportunity to play in multiple divisions. Certain qualifications and limited availability applies. Refer to our Playing Divisions for Baseball and Softball for more information.
  • USA Bat Standard coming in 2018. If you are considering purchasing a new bat for Little League play this year, please be aware that most bats permitted for use in 2017 will not be permitted for use starting in 2018. Refer to Bat Information for more information concerning Little League bat standards. If you have an interest in donating currently permitted Little League bats for younger players, please e-mail [email protected].
