Little League Baseball and Softball is an organization designed to build good citizens. It is a program of leadership, preparing today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. At the local level, Little League relies on a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly.

Spring 2026 Season Volunteer Requirements:
Every Irmo Little League player's family is expected to complete TWO volunteer shifts. They may include: 2 concession/grill shifts, umpire 2 games, assist in park workdays, and announce 2 games from the press box. Volunteering is always preferred, but, in the event that families could not commit to volunteering, they were given the option to pay a non-volunteer fee of $100 per player, allowing them to opt out of volunteering for this season. For those with multiple players in the League, the expectation is 1 player = 2 shifts, 2 players = 3 shifts, 3+ players = 4 shifts. Volunteer shifts can include field work days, umpiring, and concession stand. These shifts may be completed on the same day, same week, different months, etc.

Irmo Little League is always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate Little League events and activities. If you have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children, volunteering with ILL might be for you.

Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone, from friends and family to members of the community can apply to become a volunteer. Whatever talents or skills you have, ILL can use them!
All parents of children involved in Little League Baseball and Softball are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Oftentimes, parent and child social lives parallel each other. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals.

What Can I Volunteer To Do?
No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities require little or no training. Irmo Little League will provide you with any necessary training (as well as support and encouragement), as it deems necessary.

The best volunteers are those who are able to bring added enjoyment to the game simply be being themselves. What you see during Little League games is a mere fraction of what you can do as a volunteer. You can volunteer to help in virtually any aspect of Little League Baseball or Softball.

Volunteer Background Checks
When you apply to become a volunteer, you give Irmo Little League the right to conduct necessary background checks. A Volunteer Application must be filled out and submitted online every calendar year before you can volunteer.

Pursuant to Little League International rules, all persons that will have repetitive contact with children or otherwise hold a supervisory position involving children will be required to first submit and pass a national background check. On rare occasions, Little League, through District Administrators and your local Board of Directors, may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, that may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or Little League International.
