Regulation I (b) and (c) (8&9) in the Little League Official Regulations, Playing Rules and Operating Policies, requires that the following volunteers consent to an annual background check and completion of online abuse awareness training:

• Team managers, official coaches, and practice coaches
• All members of the Board of Directors
• Umpires
• Concession stand staff
• Grounds crew and facilities staff
• Team Parents
• Anyone with regular service to the league/repetitive access to, or contact with, the Little Leaguers® or their teams
  

In order to receive the required background check, you must first register as a volunteer in Sports Connect. Please follow the steps below to register:

1. Log into Sports Connect (same account you use to register your player) at irmolittleleague.org (image below).

2. Once you've logged into your account you will select "Volunteer" from the menu located at the left of your screen or click "Find Volunteer Roles" under the "My Roles & Certificates" (image below).

3. From the following page, you'll see all available Volunteer Roles you are eligible for, select the appropriate role and then select your profile as the person who would like to sign up, then click continue.

4. You will then be prompted to fill out and answer a few questions and upload a copy of your government issued ID (images below).

5. Once this step is complete, the system will notify the Irmo Little League Safety Officer, Tiffany, of your registration. She must then approve a background check to be emailed to you at the email address your Irmo Little League Sports Connect account is associated with. Please make sure your profile reflects your correct email address because that is where the link will go. 

6. You will receive an email from [email protected] with a link to the background check conducted through JDP (image below). You will also receive an email with a file number once the background questionnaire through JDP is complete.
